Museum of Warmia & Mazury in Olsztyn

The Library of the Museum of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn is located in the 14th-century castle of the Warmia Chapter. The collection of the museum library reflects the nature of the Museum's collection, which collects relics of the region's past in the field of archeology, history and numismatics, ancient and modern art, handicrafts and folk culture. The most valuable library copies are: incunabula from the private library of Nicolaus Copernicus, the second, third and first edition in Polish "De Revolutionibus ...", a collection of forty old prints by the bishops of Warmia, prints from the Braniewo publishing house published in 1601-1771, edicts and patents from the 18th century issued in Königsberg and Kwidzyn and publications from printing houses in Königsberg. Apart from compact publications related to the history of Warmia and Mazury, the library also collects manuscripts of prominent people associated with the region and collections of pre-war regional magazines, incl. Gazeta Olsztyńska (1893-1939). At WMBC the museum library provides access to the oldest, unique and regional objects.
